About the Role

Schools Mutual Services is looking for a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Bishop Auckland from September 2026.

This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, initially for a minimum of four weeks, with the potential to continue longer.

You’ll work across Years 3, 4 and 6, providing general classroom support, delivering interventions and helping pupils stay engaged and confident with their learning.

At times, you’ll also provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs, adapting your approach to ensure they can access their learning and feel supported within the classroom.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering general classroom interventions
  • Providing 1:1 support when required
  • Adapting activities and your approach to individual pupils
  • Supporting positive behaviour, particularly within Year 6
  • Building strong working relationships with pupils
  • Working closely with teachers and the wider school team
  • Helping to create a positive and engaging classroom environment
